How to Play Spades

Spades is played with a standard 52-card deck (jokers optional). Each player receives 13 cards and bids on the number of tricks they expect to win. Spades is always the trump suit, outranking all others.

• Players must follow suit when possible

• If unable to follow suit, a spade may be played or a card discarded

• The highest spade wins the trick

• The first team or player to reach 200 or 500 points (set before the game) wins
